Lindner Scores 21 In Loss

Thursday, January 12th, 2017 -- 9:45 AM

Jenny Lindner of Neillsville scored 21 points to lead the UW-Milwaukee Panthers but their comeback falls just short against Oakland University, 75-73 on Wednesday night.

Milwaukee (11-5, 3-2 Horizon) had a few looks at the basket on the game's final possession, but just couldn't get the ball to fall in the narrow defeat.

"I thought we competed, and that's what we need to do game in and game out is put ourselves in a position to win," Milwaukee head coach Kyle Rechlicz said. "We were there. We just had way too many defensive lapses. We can't let other teams come into our gym and shoot 50 percent - especially inside the paint...and then we didn't shoot as well.

It's a very short turnaround for the Panthers, as they get ready to host Detroit Friday morning at 11 am from the Klotsche Center for Milwaukee's annual School Day Game with over 2,000 area students expected in attendance.
