Loyal Boys Down Neillsville In OT

The Loyal Greyhound boys basketball team came back to defeat Neillsville in overtime on Tuesday night 72-66 to remain unbeaten in ECC play.

The Greyhounds (3-0, 4-1) trailed 34-23 at the half, but came back from as many as 12 down in the second half to tie the score at 58-58 at the end of regulation. Loyal's pressure defense forced a number of Warrior turnovers late in regulation and in the overtime to help in the win.

Loyal was just 3 for 9 from the free throw line in the first half but went 16-19 in the second half and overtime. The Greyhounds leading scorer, Cameron Brussow was held scoreless in the first half but scored 14 points in the second half and overtime including 9 for 10 from the free throw line.

Neillsville (3-1, 3-2) had 3 players in double figures led by Issac Bryan with a game high 20 points, Alex King had 17 and Adam Schmidt added 12. Luke Bogdonovich led the Hounds with 18 points, Brussow had 14, Elliot Genteman and Jordan Radue each added 13.

Loyal will host Colby on Friday night while Neillsville will be at Colby next Thursday (12/22).
