WIAA State Football Finals Preview: Division 2

The 41st Annual WIAA Football State Championship Finals continue today at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison. Here's a preview of the Division 2 game...

Friday, Nov. 18
Div. 2 - Brookfield East (11-2) vs. Monona Grove (11-2) - 1 p.m.

DIVISION 2 NOTES: Monona Grove is making its fifth State title game appearance and the first since winning the Division 3 title in 2013. The Silver Eagles also won the Division 2 State title in 1977 and a Division 3 crown in 1984. In addition, they finished runner-up in Division 2 in 2004. They were runners-up in the South Division of the Badger Conference this season and have advanced to the championship game with a 35-6 win over Homestead at Level 4. The Silver Eagles are averaging almost 39 points-per-game during their current nine-game win streak. Brookfield East advances to its first State finals appearance in program history. They finished third in the Greater Metro Conference this season, and they defeated Menomonie 20-13 at Level 4 to advance to the final. The staunch Spartans defense has shutout five opponents this season and has held playoff opponents to an average of 6.0 points per game.
