WIAA State Football Finals Preview: Division 4

The 41st Annual WIAA Football State Championship Finals will be held Thursday and Friday at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison. Here's a preview of the Division 4 game....

LAST YEAR: Osceola rolled to a 28-0 win over Lodi in the Division 4 championship game.

Thursday, Nov. 17
Div. 4 - St. Croix Central (10-3) vs. River Valley (10-2) - 7 p.m.

DIVISION 4 NOTES: St. Croix Central returns to the championship final for the second time and for the first time since its only other appearance in 1988, which resulted in a Division 5 State championship. This year, they defeated Little Chute 23-17 at Level 4 to continue their quest for the program’s second State title. The Panthers tied for third place in the Middle Border Conference this season. Among the teams the Panthers defeated en route to the final were two #1 seeds and a #2 seed. River Valley is making its first-ever appearance in the title game. The Blackhawks earned their opportunity to play for the championship with a 34-12 triumph over Two Rivers at Level 4. They are averaging 40.3 points per game during their playoff run. River Valley finished in a three-way tie for the top spot in the Southwest Wisconsin Conference standings this season with Lancaster and Platteville. The Blackhawks are averaging 40.3 points a game during the playoffs.

ON THE AIR: The championship finals will be televised live on either Fox Sports Wisconsin or Fox Sports Wisconsin Plus. The Divisions 7, 6, 3, 2 and 1 finals will be aired live on Fox Sports Wisconsin. The Divisions 4 and 5 championships will be aired on Fox Sports Wisconsin Plus.
