Lindner Has Game High 23 In Panther Win

Monday, November 14th, 2016 -- 9:32 AM

Junior guard Jenny Lindner of Neillsville had a game high 23 points in UW-Milwaukee's 76-68 win over Western Illinois Sunday afternoon.

Lindner was big early for Milwaukee, scoring 12 of her game-high 23 points in the first quarter alone. Steph Kostowicz started the season with a double-double of 20 points and 11 rebounds as the Panthers (1-0) improved to 4-1 in season openers under head coach Kyle Rechlicz.

"We have so many offensive weapons on the court and we really started getting our zone offense clicking," Rechlicz said. "We knew they were going to come into the game and play a lot of zone. I didn't think they would play the whole game in zoneā€¦so it took us a little bit of time to get that going. But when it started clicking, we were able to find the holes and that really started with Jenny and Steph. They did a good job of attacking that high post, middle area, and passing they really made some great decisions in that position."

Milwaukee dominated the rebounding battle Sunday, 41-27, and also went a near-perfect 18-20 from the free throw line.

Up next, the Panthers hit the road for the first time this season, heading just across the state line to Northern Illinois for a 5:30 pm contest Wednesday afternoon.
