Athens & Newman Advance To State

The Athens and Wausau Newman girls volleyball teams have advanced to the 2016 WIAA Girls State Volleyball Tournament at the Resch Center in Green Bay.In a Division 4 Sectional Final, Newman beat Bowler 3-0 at Stevens Point. Newman will now take on Seneca in a State Semi-Final on Friday morning.
In Division 3 at the Auburndale Sectiona Final, Athens downed Wittenberg-Birnamwood 3-1 to advance to a Divison 3 State Semi-Final on Friday afternoon against Lourdes Academy.
The 2016 State Girls Volleyball Tournament will get underway on Thursday evening and night with Division 1 quarterfinals.
