Neillsville/Granton Wins Adams-Friendship Tournament

The Neillsville/Granton girls volleyball team finished unbeaten and won the Adams-Friendship tournament on Saturday.

The Lady Warriors first match was against New Lisbon. They won 2-1 (25-14, 18-25, 15-13). "We started out strong in our first game, I was able to sub more players in the second but we didn't pull off a win, and our third game we came back and won", said head coach Tia Opelt.
Top stats for the first game were Ashlee Diestler and Jocelyn Thur both with 2 aces out of 9 attempts, and Lexi Opelt with 11 serve attempts. Jocelyn Thur with 13 kills out of 20 attempts, Morgan Hauge with 6 kills out of 21 attempts, Jocelyn Thur with 8 blocks, and Lexi Opelt with 23 assists.

Match 2 was against Almond-Bancroft. Neillsville/Granton won 2-0 (25-10, 25-19). Coach Opelt said, "We were able to get ahead and put more girls in to play. The girls played hard and played together."
Top stats for this game were Allison Erickson with 3 aces out of 7 attempts, Jill Richmond with 2 aces out of 7 attempts, Jocelyn Thur with 3 aces out of 7 attempts, Jocelyn with 7 kills out of 13 attacks, Morgan Hauge with 5 kills out of 11 attacks, Jill Richmond with 5 on target serve receives, and Lexi Opelt with 15 assists.

Match 3 was against Adams-Friendship and the Warriors won 2-0 (25-9, 25-10). Coach Opelt said, "Our team really clicked this game. It is really nice to see us play to our potential. We talked, got serves over, and played very well."
Top stats for this game were Lexi Opelt with 2 aces out of 15 serves, JocelynThur with 4 kills out of 7 attempts, Lexi Opelt with 10 assists, Morgan Hauge with 5 digs.

In the Championship against Columbus, Neillsville/Granton won 2-1 (25-27, 25-16, 15-9). "We started off not playing very well. We weren't playing our game and we were playing slow. We also had a lot of net errors. The second and third game we were able to play with more energy and limit the errors we did to ourselves. I'm glad we were able to come back and win the next two," commented Opelt.
Top stats for the final game were Lexi Opelt with 2 aces out of 16 attempts, Sam Cappadora 1 ace out of 15 serves, Jocelyn Thur 12 kills out of 29 attacks, Morgan Hauge with 12 kills out of 36 attacks, Morgan with 9 on target serve receives, Lauren Mesar with 9 blocks, and Lexi Opelt with 29 assists.

Neillsville/Granton's next game is Tuesday September 13th at Marshfield Columbus.
