Thorp Girls Heading To State!

The Thorp girls softball team is heading back to State after a 9-0 Sectional Final win over Three Lakes/Phelps on Thursday at D.C. Everest.The Cardinals (26-2) used a 7 run fifth inning to bust open a close game. They batted 12 players in the inning and were aided by 5 walks by Three Lakes pitcher Anna Lorbetske.
Cardinal left hander Lizzy Schimke went the distance allowing no runs on 1 hit while striking out 7 and walking none. She was also 2 for 4 from the plate with two runs scored. Thorp had 6 hits as a team while Three Lakes only had 4 total runners in the game.
Thorp will be making their 4 trip to State in girls softball having traveled to Madison in 2008, 2009 and 2012, finishing runner-up in '08 and '09. Their opponent on Friday, June 10th at 11 am will be Oakfield, a team Thorp lost to in the 2009 State Championship.
