Pilz Throws 2-Hit Shut-Out

Spencer's Bobby Pilz had a no-hitter broken up in the 7th inning en-route to a 2 hit 4-0 win over Neillsville on Tuesday.

Pilz held the Warriors to just 3 base runners through the 6 innings. Logan Matson reached base twice, once via a walk and the other after being hit by a pitch. Noah Henchen also reached base after being hit by a pitch in the 5th inning. Pilz had his no-hit bid broken up in the 7th inning when Jake Kunze led off the inning with a double. David Harder then followed with a single, but Pilz then struck out the next 3 to end the game.

Spencer scored 3 of their 4 runs in the 3rd inning off starter Kunze. Jake walked two in that inning, allowed one hit and the Warriors committed two errors defensively. The Rockets other run came in the 6th inning on an RBI triple from Hunter Luepke off Neillsville reliever Jason Kurth.

Pilz struck out 9 in the game and walked just one. Kunze took the loss going 4 innings, giving up 3 hits and 3 runs, striking out 6 and walking 6.

Neillsville falls to 1-2 on the season while Spencer is now 1-0.
