Neillsville Booster Club Girls Youth Basketball Results

The Neillsville Booster Club held their annual Girl's Youth Basketball Tournament on Sunday, March 13th. Twenty-four 5th - 8th grade teams from around Central Wisconsin competed in the tournament.

Placing first in the 5th grade division was the hometown Neillsville Warriors as they edged Blair-Taylor 33-28 in the championship. Members of their squad coached by Ron Trunkel and Rick Rochester included: Amelia Trunkel, Delaney Rochester, Callie Mohr, Kayla Verch, Jayla Carroll, Vickie Ratsch, Lillyan Schutz, Miranda Mijal, Avery McFarlane, Baylee Schultz, Lainey Horn and MacKenzie Hediger. Taking home the bronze medals were the Osseo-Fairchild squad, with Marshfield Black placing fourth. Rounding out the bracket were Marshfield Orange capturing the consolation championship followed by Loyal, Spencer and Greenwood.

In the 6th grade division, Medford beat Neillsville 30-27 for the championship. The Neillsville squad who are coached by Travis Mortenson and Mark Mayer includes: Jayden Bymers, Emma Moseley, Abby Shiltz, McKenzie Keller, Rylee Courtney, Ava Mortenson, Amanda Snyder, Kara Oldham, Skylar Hart, Kati Mayer, Kylie Boyer, Courtney Oldham and Lauren Langreck. Placing third was Wisconsin Rapids Assumption who edged Marshfield in the bronze medal game. Capturing the consolation ribbons were Spencer as they topped Owen-Withee with Loyal and Greenwood rounding out the tourney.

In the 7th grade bracket, Neillsville bettered Loyal, Blair-Taylor and Pittsville to secure first place. The team, coached by Missy Stockheimer, Sunni Opelt and Taylor Gleisner, included: Bella Opelt, Arianna Rochester, Emily Hanson, Libny Castillo, Jaden Barth, Kaitlin Zimmerman, Sarah Hahn, Aubrey Anderson, Terren Stockheimer, Emma Vance and Kayla Ratsch.

In the 8th grade bracket, Neillsville again showed they were the cream of the crop downing Marshfield, Greenwood and Pittsville to win the gold medals. Members of the squad coached by Jena Ehlen included: Olivia Friemoth, Alli Schoengarth, Chloee Lowry, Biannca Fischer, Kaitlin Thoma, Kayal Oldham, Riley Voigt and Parker Millard.

In the day long competition, 36 games were contested. The Booster Club would like to thank the many volunteers who helped officiate, scorekeep, take tickets or work the concession stand. All proceeds are used to support youth sports at Neillsville schools.
