Schoonover Wins Girls 3-Point Challenge

Devyn Schoonover, a senior from Loyal, won the 2016 girls 3-Point Challenge held Saturday morning at the Resch Center in conjunction with the State Girls Basketball Tournament.Schoonover, representing Division 5, was one of 10 participants in the 3-Point Challenge, which was held for the first time last year. She scored 15 points in the final round to win the contest. Senior Abby Gerrits of Pewaukee was second with 14 points in the final round.
Schoonover scored 13 points in the opening round and 14 in the semifinals. Gerrits opened with 13 points and followed with 19 in the semifinals. Senior Madie Kaelber of Kenosha Indian Trail and senior Sara Winkel of Kiel also advanced to the semifinals with first-round totals of 14 and 13, respectively.
