Neillsville Booster Club Boys BB Tourney Results

The Neillsville Booster Club held their annual "Youth Boys Basketball Tournament" on Sunday, Feb. 14th with 30 area teams participating.

45 games were contested throughout the day.

In the 5th grade division, first place was captured by the boys representing Neillsville. A 6 point victory in the championship game against the Marshfield Orange squad earned them the gold medals. The team coached by Bill Neville included: Andrew Brown, Alex Roman, Tyler Vance, Logan Erickson, Jacob Morrell, Hunter Ellis, Kane Johnson, Noble Melvin, Zach Derfus, Joe Vance and Nolyn McFarlane. Owen-Withee finished 3rd and Colby 4th. Thorp claimed the consolation championship.

In the the sixth grade competition, Stratford reigned as champion with Colby, Chippewa Falls and Loyal rounding out the winners bracket. Taking home the consolation ribbons were Owen-Withee. The Neillsville 6th grade team was coached by John Subke, Terry Byrne and Matt Roenz and included: Eric Moltzen, Santana Subke, Michael Byrne, Kolin Schmitz, Anthony Knuth, Paul Craig, Mason Roenz and Taytor Lowry.

In the 7th grade bracket, the Eau Claire Green Knights picked up the gold medals with a hard fought victory over Blair-Taylor in the final contest. Stratford placed 3rd while Loyal, Greenwood, Marshfield Orange, Spencer and Neillsville rounded out the final positions. Members of the Neillsville squad, coached by Dale Seif included: Isaiah Hurst, Carrson Mohr, Trumale Myers, Stone Johnson, Calvin Berger, and Collin O'Brien.

In the 8th grade bracket, Marshfield Black was crowned the champion with Blair-Taylor the runner-up. Spencer took home the bronze medals as they snuck by Neillsville 46-38. Members of the Neillsville 8th grade team, coached by Duane King and Matt Dietsler included: Monte Diestler, Alex King, Dominique Elmhorst, Issac Weiers, Josiah Katcher, Beau Julien, Nick Derfus and Braden Trunkel. Marshfield Orange captured fifth place with Loyal claiming sixth.

The tournament, sponsored by the Booster Club, was conducted with a tremendous amount of volunteer help and all proceeds are used to support youth sports at Neillsville Schools. The Booster Club would like to thank the many, many volunteers who helped out.
