Neillsville Downs Gilman In Conference Opener

The Neillsville boys basketball team opened the Eastern Cloverbelt Conference season with a 66-35 win over the Gilman Pirates on Tuesday night at The Fieldhouse in Neillsville.The Warriors (1-1, 1-0) got out to a big lead early and never looked back as they led 50-19 at the half. Mike Dux had 19 of his game high 21 in the first half including five 3-pointers.
Neillsville went to their bench for most of the second half and the Pirates and Warriors were even at 16-16 to make the final 66-35.
Jake Kunze had 11 points for the Warriors including 5 for 5 from the free throw line. Chase Rosemeyer led Gilman (0-1) with 9 points.
Neillsville is at Greenwood on Friday while Gilman is at Colby.
