Spencer/Columbus To Play For State Title

The Spencer/Columbus Rocket football team will play for a Division 5 State Championship after a 50-7 Level 4 playoff win over Shoreland Lutheran on Friday night.The Rockets (13-0) got off to a quick start scoring twice in the first quarter on runs by Hunter Luepke (14 yds) and Noah Zastrow (78 yds) to go up 16-0.
Quarterback Calvin Lenz had two touchdown passes and a TD run in the second quarter and Elijah Welsh scored from a yard out to put Spencer/Columbus 44-0 at the half.
Jon Bauer scored in the 3rd quarter for the Rockets and Shoreland Lutheran got their only score in the 3rd as well to make the final 50-7.
Zastrow ended with 174 yards rushing and the Rockets rushed for 397 yards as a team. They had 452 yards of total offense while holding Shoreland Lutheran to just 183 total yards.
Spencer/Columbus will now take on Amherst (13-0) in the Division 5 State Championship on Thursday at 4 pm at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison.
