Warriors Even Record At 1-1

Saturday, August 29th, 2015 -- 2:36 PM

The Neillsville football team, hampered by injuries and turnovers, fell to Cadott on Friday night 20-6 to even their record at 1-1.

The Warriors scored first in the Cloverbelt Conference matchup after an interception by Mason Barth, Barth then connected with Tristen Heidemann for a 6 yard touchdown pass to give Neillsville a 6-0 lead.

A few series later Barth was injured after being tackled on a run. It was later reported that he had broken his collerbone. Sophomore Marshall Opelt came in to replace Barth at quarterback.

Cadott got on the scoreboard late in the first half with about 2:45 left in the 2nd quarter on a 4 yard Emery to Sedlacek pass to tie the score at 6-6 going into the locker room at halftime.

Receiver/Defensive back Skylar Barth also went out in the game with a concussion and after Cadott went up 12-6, Mikey Dux suffered a dislocated shoulder and was lost for the remainder of the game.

Neillsville's offense could not get anything going after the injuries and after a late touchdown pass by Emery, Cadott was up 20-6 and that proved to be the final score.

Neillsville ended with 7 turnovers in the game, while Cadott had 6.

Neillsville will be at Spencer/Columbus next Friday while Cadott travels to Stanley-Boyd.
