Matson's Complete Game One Hitter Leads Neillsville

Senior Neal Matson faced the minimum thru 4 innings and allowed just 1 hit in a complete game shutout as Neillsville downed Cochrane-Fountain City 4-0 in a Division 3 Regional Semi-Final on Wednesday in Neillsville.Matson retired the first 12 Pirate batters he faced and struck out six in the span before giving up a hit and a walk in the 5th inning. Matson finished with 9 strike outs and 2 walks in the shutout win.
Neal's brother, Nolan was 3 for 3 from the plate with a run scored. Jason Kurth had a 3 run single in the first where Neillsville scored all four of their runs. Sam Neville had an RBI flyout in the inning as well.
Neillsville (23-1) will now take on Arcadia in a Regional Final on Friday at Henry Lukes Baseball Field in Neillsville at 5 pm. You can hear it live on 1370 AM WCCN.
