Local Youth Excel At "Tri-Star Basketball" State Competition

Three students from Neillsville competed on April 18th in the Wisconsin Optimist Club, "Tri-Star" Basketball state competition in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.These individuals earned the chance to compete in the prestigious event by finishing in first place in the local contest held in February at the fieldhouse. Over 100 individuals from around Wisconsin competed in shooting, dribbling and passing events. The local contingent represented the Neillsville Optimist Club very successfully.
Delaney Rochester, daughter of Clarissa & Rick, a future standout at Neillsville High School for the lady Warriors placed 2nd in the 9 year old competition and was awarded a trophy for her efforts.
Also representing the Neillsville Optimist Club was Paris and Bella Opelt, the talented daughters of Sunni and Ryan Opelt. Paris, competing in the 8 year old division placed third and Bella garnered 4th place in the very competitive 11 year old division.
All three young ladies worked very hard this past season to develop their outstanding skills.
