UW-Stevens Point Wins NCAA Div. 3 Championship

University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point claimed the 2015 NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship with a 70-54 triumph over Augustana College (Ill.) at Salem Civic Center on Saturday.The national title for the Pointers is the fourth in program history (2004, 2005, 2010) and 12th captured by a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) men's basketball team. UW-Platteville and UW-Whitewater each own four crowns.
The Pointers earned a spot in this year's title game with a 68-59 victory over Virginia Wesleyan College in the semifinals on March 20. UW-Stevens Point completed the 2014-15 campaign with a 27-5 record and made the program's 14th NCAA appearance. The Pointers also secured a share of the WIAC regular-season title for the 29th time in program archives.
