Neillsville Downs Colby In ECC Boys Basketball

The Neillsville boys basketball team downed Colby on Tuesday night 46-26 to improve to 11-3 in the Eastern Cloverbelt Conference.The Warriors led 11-8 after one quarter and then outscored the Hornets 12-4 in the second quarter to go into the locker room at the half leading 23-12.
The third quarter saw neither team finding the basket very often as Neillsville opened their lead to 30-16 heading into the final frame.
In the fourth quarter, Neillsville outscored Colby 16-10 to get the twenty point win.
The Warriors shot 43% from the field compared to just 33% for the Hornets. Neillsville also outrebounded Colby 33-20. The Warriors however only made 4 of 11 from the free throw line.
Colby's Nolan Derrico led all scorers with 14 points. Jake Kunze led Neillsville with 9 points, Michael Dux added 8.
Neillsville improves to 13-6 overall and stays tied with Marshfield Columbus for second place in the ECC, both with 11-3 records. Colby falls to 5-9 in the conference and 5-14 overall.
