Neillsville Girls Cruise Past Colby

The Neillsville girls basketball team dominated the Colby Hornets on Tuesday night and cruised to a 48-19 Eastern Cloverbelt win.

The Warriors were in control from the start getting out to an 8-0 lead and an 11-4 advantage after one quarter.

Neillsville continued with defensive pressure in the second quarter and out-scored the Hornets 12-5 to lead at the half 23-9. Neillsville connected on six 3-pointers in the half led by Chelsea Opelt who had 3.

In the second half, coach John Gaier was able to give his bench some extended minutes and Neillsville out-scored Colby 25-10 to get the win.

Taylor Henchen led the Warriors with 11 points, Opelt had 9. Neillsville made 9 of 10 freethrows as well.

Colby was led by Haylee Geiger's 8 points.

Neillsville improves to 9-3 in the ECC and 13-4 overall, Colby falls to 8-5 in the conference and 8-10 overall.
