Neillsville Picks Up 10th Win With Victory Over Auburndale

The Neillsville boys basketball team improved to 10-6 on the year after a 52-47 win over Auburndale on Monday night.The Warriors led 10-6 after one quarter but Auburndale got 8 second quarter points from Joshua Vanschoick and they outscored Neillsville 16-10 to take a 22-20 lead into the locker room.
In the third quarter, Neillsville held a 9-7 advantage to tie the score at 29 heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, Neillsville outscored Auburndale 23-18, led by Jake Kunze who had all 8 of his points in the quarter.
Auburndale's Matt Nikolay led all scorers with 19, 13 of those coming in the second half. Vanschoick added 10 for the Apaches. They made all 7 of their free throws in the second half.
Neal Matson led the Warriors with 14 points while Michael Dux added 10. Neillsville finished 8 of 14 from the line.
Neillsville out-rebounded the Apaches 31-20 led by Jake Kunze's 9 boards. Neillsville turned the ball over 14 times compared to just 4 for Auburndale.
Auburndale fell to 10-5 on the season.
