Neillsville Girls Pick Up 10th Win

Neillsville improved to 10-3 on the season after a 41-23 victory over Altoona on Monday night in girls basketball.Neillsville led 7-4 after one quarter, but then thanks to three 3-pointers from Chelsea Opelt the Warriors outscored the Lady Rails 17-4 in the second quarter and go into halftime leading 24-8.
Altoona came out in a man-to-man defense in the second half and Neillsville had just one field goal the entire second half, a 3-pointer by Opelt. But they did convert on 14 of 22 from the free throw line in the second half including 11 of 16 in the fourth quarter. Sydney Miller was 9 for 11 in the final quarter from the line alone. Neillsville finished 22 for 31 for the game from the line.
The Warriors had three players in double figures led by Opelt with 15 points, Miller had 11 and Allie Pfieffer added 10.
Kristi Springer and Kenzi Titera had 8 points apiece to lead Altoona.
Neillsville is at Nekoosa on Thursday night.
