Loyal Stays Unbeaten In Eastern Cloverbelt

The Loyal Greyhound girl's basketball team improved to 7-0 in ECC play after a 37-31 win over the Owen-Withee Blackhawks on Tuesday night.It was a hard fought game as neither team held a lead of more than 5 points throughout until the end.
After the first quarter, Loyal held an 8-6 advantage led by Missy Benz who had 6 points.
The second quarter belonged to Owen-Withee as they outscored Loyal 10-7 to take a 16-15 lead into the locker room.
The third was even at 8 points a piece with Owen-Withee leading 24-23 going into the final quarter.
In the fourth, Loyal turned up the defense a little and hit 6 of 7 free throws down the stretch to pull out the six point win.
Benz led all scorers with 15 points, Karsyn Rueth added 8. For the Hawks, Hayley Bunnell led the way with 9 points.
Loyal improved to 7-0 in the ECC and 9-2 overall while Owen-Withee fell to 6-2 in conference play and 6-4 overall.
