Opelt Officially Out For Season

Cornell Ram sophomore Phil Opelt of Neillsville is officially out for the wrestling season with a shoulder injury.A complete tear of his shoulder will force Opelt to have surgery next week and force him to miss the rest of the season. Opelt suffered the injury in his first match at the Citrus Open in Florida last week. Cornell College finished 3rd in the tournament.
Opelt was 10-6 at 133 pounds and ranked in the top 10 in Division 3.
With the injury coming in the first half of the season, Phil can medically red shirt the rest of the year.
Cornell College returns to the NWCA National Duals for the first time since 2011 as one of 24 teams in this weekend's Division III field at Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Ind.
