UW-Whitewater Is Champs Again

University of Wisconsin-Whitewater successfully defended its national title with a 43-34 victory over University of Mount Union (Ohio) in the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl at Salem Stadium on Friday night.The Warhawks have won six of the last eight national championships and extended their winning streak to 32 games - the longest active streak in college football. Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) teams have claimed eight NCAA Division III crowns with UW-La Crosse's victories in 1992 and 1995.
UW-Whitewater completed the 2014 campaign with a 15-0 record and also won the program's 34th WIAC crown - and ninth in the last 10 years. The national title contest marked the final game for head coach Lance Leipold, who amassed a 109-6 record (.948 winning percentage) in eight seasons.
