Tuesday, December 16th, 2014 -- 9:20 PM

The Neillsville Warrior boys basketball team hit just enough freethrows in the fourth quarter to hang on to beat Marshfield Columbus on Tuesday night 54-51.

The Warriors (4-0, 5-1) hit 11-19 from the freethrow line in the 4th quarter to overcome the Dons five 3-pointers in the quarter.

Both teams came out cold from the field as Neillsville led 7-5 at the end of one quarter. Neillsville then outscored Marshfield Columbus 16-7 in the second quarter to lead 23-12 at the half. Nathan Peterson had 10 first half points and Neal Matson added 9.

In the third quarter the Dons outscored the Warriors 19-16 to cut Neillsville's lead down to 8 heading to the 4th quarter.

In the fourth quarter Hunter Schultz hit three 3-pointers for the Dons but it wasn't enough as the Warriors hung on for the win.

Peterson and Schultz shared the scoring honors as each scored 17. Neal Matson added 13 for the Warriors and Sam Neville had 10. Ben Behling was the only Don in double figures with 15.
