Neville's 24 Points Lead Neillsville

Friday, December 5th, 2014 -- 9:12 PM

Senior Sam Neville scored 18 first half points and finished with a game high 24 as Neillsville beat Greenwood 56-39 in Eastern Cloverbelt boys basketball on Friday night.

Greenwood got out to a quick start, leading 6-0 and then 10-4 before Neillsville went on an 11-0 run to end the first quarter and take a 15-10 lead.

In the second quarter, Greenwood went ice-cold from the field and Neillsville outscored the Indians 17-3 to take a 32-13 lead into the locker room.

In the second half Greenwood actually outscored Neillsville 26-24 but their first half deficit was too much to overcome and the Warriors get the win 56-39.

Neal Matson and Devon Opelt each scored 9 points for the Warriors to go with Neville's 24.

Two players from Greenwood scored in double figures led by Booker Bredlau with 15, 11 in the second half, and Logan Johnson with 10.

Neillsville improves to 2-0 in conference play while Greenwood falls to 1-1.
