Opelt Finishes 1-2 In Tough University of Iowa Duals

Cornell College sophomore Phillip Opelt of Neillsville finished 1-2 on Friday in the University of Iowa Duals against some very good competition.In the match against third-ranked Iowa Central Community College, Opelt, ranked No. 10 in Div. III at 133 pounds, won by major decision 11-0.
Opelt lost his match to #1 ranked Bryce Shoemaker of Baker College by major decision 9-1.
Cornell College then went up against the number 1 team in NCAA Div. I wrestling, the Iowa Hawkeyes, and Opelt lost to 4th ranked Cory Clark by technical fall, 16-1.
Cornell College is now 1-3 overall. The Rams host the eighth-ranked Luther Norse in a 7 p.m. home meet Dec. 3 in the Small Multi-Sport Center.
