WIAC Cross Country Championships This Saturday

UW-La Crosse men and women's cross country teams will look to repeat as WIAC champions this Saturday in Ettrick.The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse will aim for a third straight crown when the nine conference teams assemble at the 2014 WIAC Men's Cross Country Championship. The 54th edition of the league event will be hosted by UW-La Crosse at Ettrick Golf Course in Ettrick on Saturday. Five teams are ranked among the finest in the NCAA Division III based on Oct. 22 rankings distributed by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. UW-Eau Claire is second, while UW-La Crosse is fifth, UW-Oshkosh 17th, UW-Stout 19th and UW-Platteville 24th.
On the women's side, the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse will strive for a second consecutive first-place finish when the nine conference teams gather in Ettrick on Saturday. UW-La Crosse is ranked No. 13 in the NCAA Division III based on Oct. 22 rankings.
The top seven runners in both the men's and women's race will receive All-WIAC first team recognition, while runners placing eight through 14 earn All-WIAC second team accolades. Individuals finishing 15 through 20 claim honorable mention.
All nine WIAC men's and women's teams will return to action on Nov. 15, and participate in the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional at Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne, Wis.
