Warriors Fall To Hornets

Friday, October 17th, 2014 -- 9:50 PM

The Neillsville Warrior football team put up another valiant effort on defense but could not get going offensively in a 14-0 loss to Colby on Friday night.

McCoy Soppa had a huge night for the Hornets rushing 24 times for 181 yards, unofficially, and 2 touchdowns.

The Warrior defense forced 3 Colby turnovers but were unable to capitalize and get points. Devon Opelt led the Warriors in rushing with 32 yards. Opelt also came on in relief of an injured Mason Barth to go 3 for 13 for 50 yards through the air.

Neillsville finished 0-8 in the conference and are 1-8 overall. They will play Nekoosa next Friday night at D.E. Peters Field at 7 pm.

With the win Colby becomes playoff eligible with a 4-4 conference record.
