Badger Volleyball Team Moves Up In Poll

Winning their last five matches, the Wisconsin volleyball team moved up one spot to fifth in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top-25 poll released Oct. 13. The Badgers (14-2) are highest ranked Big Ten Conference team in the poll.

Stanford (16-0) is still in first place for the fifth-straight week. The Cardinal pick up 56 of 60 first-place votes and earn 1,496 points. Texas (13-0) stays at second while Washington (17-0) and Florida State (17-0) remain at third and fourth, respectively.

In addition to Wisconsin, the Big Ten has six other teams in the top 25. Penn State (16-3) falls two spots to seventh and Nebraska (10-5) falls five spots to 13th. Purdue (16-2) and Illinois (12-5) continue at 14th and 15th, respectively. Ohio State (13-5) moves into the poll for the first time this season at 22nd while Minnesota (13-4) stays at 23rd.

The Badgers take on Big Ten travel partner Minnesota twice this week. Wisconsin travels to Minneapolis on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. Big Ten Network match from the Sports Pavilion. The two teams return to Madison on Saturday for a 7 p.m. match in the UW Field House.
