Neillsville Drops Homecoming Game To Regis

Saturday, October 4th, 2014 -- 8:35 AM

Eau Claire Regis used their potent running attack to down Neillsville 30-13 in the homecoming game at D.E. Peters Athletic Field on Friday night.

Regis got on the board first on a Noel Ortiz 17 yard run to go up 8-0 at the end of one quarter.

In the second quarter, Neillsville was faced with a 4th and 5 from the Regis 33 when Nate McDonald faked a punt and ran down the right sideline for a touchdown. The extra point was no good and it was 8-6. Regis would score two more times in the quarter on a 7 yd run by Noah Schober and a 40 yd scamper by Tommy Cicha. The halftime score was 23-6, Regis.

Neillsville's defense played pretty well in the second half as they allowed only one more score from Regis, a 3 yd score by Schober. Neillsville scored once in the second half on a perfect Mason Barth to Devon Opelt 7 yard td pass with 7:26 left in the game. Neither team would score again and the final was 30-13.

Barth finished, unofficially, 12 of 20 for 133 yds with a touchdown and 2 ints. McDonald led the Warriors in rushing with 67 yards while Derek Krejci finished with 56 yards.

Tommy Cicha led the Ramblers with 141 yds on the ground. Regis had over 12 players run the football in the game.

The Warriors (0-6),(1-6) will head to Fall Creek next Friday to take on the Crickets.
