Volleyball: Neillsville Falls To Spencer

Friday, October 3rd, 2014 -- 10:20 AM

The Neillsville girl's volleyball team won game one on Thursday night vs. Spencer but then it was all Rockets after that...

The Warriors came out looking to take down the No. 5 team in the state in Div. 3 on Thursday downing the Rockets 25-16. "We had a great first game. We moved well on the court, hit the ball hard, blocked well and communicated." said head coach Tammy Matson. She said, ". It is hard to believe that with three minutes between games we completely lost the momentum."

Spencer then came out after that first game and took the next three 25-22, 25-16 and 25-16. Coach Matson said, "I have to give credit to Spencer, they are a good team and came out with a vengeance. They were very scrappy and kept the ball alive. We had too many girls who had off nights. You can't play a team like Spencer and have players struggling."

Spencer improves to 6-0 in ECC play while Neillsville falls to 4-2. The Warriors will wrap up conference play next week vs. Owen-Withee.

Stats from Thursday night:
Top server Chelsea Opelt 4 aces and 11 good serves
Top receiver Dani Pfeiffer 7 on target receptions
Top setter Krisana Zoromski 15 assists
Top attackers Dani Pfeiffer 8 kills and Jocelyn Thur 7 kills
Top defender Dani Pfeiffer 20 digs
Top blocker Katarina Nemitz 3 solo block kills
