Neillsville And Greenwood Battle For A Share Of First

The Neillsville and Greenwood girl's volleyball teams battled 5 games on Tuesday night with the winner staying tied for first in the ECC.The first game went to Greenwood 25-23. "Greenwood had a wall up for us to hit against and you could see the panic in our eyes. We kept hitting into the block and struggled with hitting around it or over it." said Neillsville coach Tammy Matson.
Neillsville came back and won the next two games 25-23 and 25-14. Coach Matson said, " We moved and played better on the court. We played as a team instead of individuals."
Coach Matson said Neillsville's goal at the beginning of the 4th game was to not give Greenwood the momentum back because they had them down. But it didn't work out that way as Greenwood took game four 25-18.
Greenwood capitalized on Neillsville's faults and took control by winning game five 15-7 and the match 3-2.
Greenwood stays tied with Spencer atop the Eastern Cloverbelt at 5-0 while Neillsville falls to 4-1 in
conference play.
Neillsville will host Spencer at the Fieldhouse on Thursday night.

Top blocker- Jocelyn Thur with 6 solo block kills and 5 assists and Katarina Nemitz and Dani Pfeiffer each with 4 solo blocks
