Neillsville Girls Volleyball Team Now 4-0 In ECC

Wednesday, September 24th, 2014 -- 6:45 AM

The Neillsville girl's volleyball team improved to 4-0 in the Eastern Cloverbelt after a 3-2 win over Colby on Tuesday night.

Neillsville won game one 25-16 but then dropped the next two 21-25 and 16-25. "We would get the ball back and then miss our serve or hit the ball in the net. Everyone took turns making mistakes and we did not play as a team," said coach Tammy Matson.

The Warriors stepped up their play in the last two games and won 25-20 and 15-10. Despite the win, coach Matson said they're frustrated, " I don?t like the feeling of being frustrated after a win, but I think our entire team feels that way. We are all frustrated; but we will work through it and figure out how to play better as one."

Top server-Dani Pfeiffer 5 aces and 18 good serves
Top receiver-Katarina Nemitz and Taylor Henchen each with 15 on target receptions
Top setter Krisana Zoromski with 18 assists and 47 good sets
Top hitter-Katarina Nemitz and Jocelyn Thur with 10 kills each
Top defensive player- Taylor Henchen with 8 digs
Top blocker- Katarina Nemitz with 6 solo block kills and 4 assist blocks kills

Neillsville will be at Amherst for a non-conference matchup on Thursday. Coach Matson said, " It will be nice to be able to try some new things to see if we can work out some of our kinks. "
