Neillsville Girls Volleyball Downs Gilman

Friday, September 19th, 2014 -- 6:44 AM

The Neillsville girl's volleyball team improved to 3-0 in ECC play after a 3-1 win over Gilman on Thursday night.

The Warriors won the first two games 25-19 and 28-26. Gilman took game three 23?25 before Neillsville closed out the match with a 25-20 in game four.

Neillsville had 11 missed serves in 4 games and coach Tammy Matson said it's frustrating, "That really takes the wind out of our sails when we fight for the ball and hand it right back to them. It is frustrating because it is a fundamental that we work on every single day at practice and it is a mental mistake, not a physical one."

Coach Matson said she was happy with the teams coverage and passing against Gilman, " I thought our passing was more consistent tonight. It was nice to see excitement and the team work on the court tonight." She said it will nice to have the weekend off from any tournaments so some of the players can rest some nagging injuries.

Top server Chelsea Opelt 3 aces and 12 good serves
Top receiver Syndney Miller 9 on target receptions
Top setter Krisana Zoromski with 16 assists and 27 good sets
Top attacker Talor Henchen and Sydney Miller each with 9 kills
Top defensive player Katarina Nemitz, Sydney Miller and Erin Diestler each with 7 digs.
Top blocker Katrina Nemitz with 5 solo blocks and 3 assists
