Jefferson is returning to the tournament for the first time since 1998 and is also participating in its fifth State Tournament overall. The Eagles? furthest advance towards a State title came in 1994 when they finished runner-up. Their return to the State semifinals resulted from 5-4, eight-inning win over Waupun in the Waupun Sectional final. They are the champions of the North Division of the Rock Valley Conference this season. Viroqua beat Somerset 10-6 in the Altoona Sectional final to advance to State. It is the third overall appearance for the Blackhawks and the first since 1985, when they were the runner-up in Class B. They also posted a second-place finish in their only other appearance in 1981.
