Neillsville Baseball Team Is Regional Champs!

The Neillsville baseball team claimed the Regional Championship after a 15-3 five inning win over Whitehall on Friday..The Warriors continued their hot hitting scoring 12 runs in the first inning. Jason Kurth, Neal Matson, Nate McDonald and Devon Opelt all had 2 RBI's in the inning as Neillsville pounded out 7 hits and sent 16 players to the plate. The Warriors added a run in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th innings to make the final 15-3. Sam Neville clubbed his first homer of the season in 3rd.
Neal Matson went 4 1/3 giving up 3 runs on 4 hits, he struck out 6 and walked 6. Jason Kurth came on in relief to get the final two outs in the 5th.
Neillsville (21-2) will now head to the Riverdale Sectional in Muscoda on Tuesday. Their Sectional Semi-final is Tuesday morning at 11 am vs. Westby who beat Aquinas 3-2 in their Regional Final.
