Germantown Boys Basketball Wins 63rd In A Row

Wednesday, December 18th, 2013 -- 10:08 AM

Germantown now holds the state record for most straight victories with 63 in a row, breaking the old mark of 62 set by Whitefish Bay Dominican from 1977-80.

Wissports.net reports that in their quest to establish a state record for most consecutive victories, the Warhawks registered three victories during that time span by an average margin of 39.6 points per game.

Germantown opened the five-day stretch with an 88-42 North Shore Conference victory over Cedarburg behind 20 points from senior forward and North Dakota State recruit Evan Wesenberg.

The Warhawks tied Dominican?s state mark with a surprisingly easy 75-29 victory over Dominican, which is ranked No. 1 among Division 4 schools in the state by WisSports.net, Saturday in the NY2LA Sports Classic held at Homestead behind 22 points from senior point guard and Buffalo recruit Lamonte Bearden.

And last night, Germantown celebrated its status as one of the truly elite programs in state history with a 90-63 win over Milwaukee Lutheran behind 17 point from senior wing guard and North Dakota State recruit Jake Showalter.

Without a doubt, the thing that has separated Germantown from the rest of the state the past three years has been its depth.

With three NCAA Division I players and another Division II player on the roster this season, not to mention Wisconsin?s Zak Showalter two years ago and Indiana?s Luke Fischer last season, Germantown?s depth simply wears down opponents.
