Level 2 Playoffs: Cloverwood And Cloverbelt

Running the football will be the rule for Level 2 playoff games this Friday night involving Cloverbelt and Cloverwood Conference teams.

DIVISION 5
Fall Creek at Stanley-Boyd - Friday, 7 p.m.
Both teams come out of the Cloverbelt Conference. Stanley-Boyd beat Fall Creek back on Sept. 20th 35-0. The Orioles like to run the ball with Ronny Ponick (734 yds) and Craig Mason (647 yds) but they also like to throw with Tyler Sorenson passing for over 1000 yds and 16 touchdowns. Stanley-Boyd averages 37 points per game.

DIVISION 6
Athens at Hurley - Friday, 7 p.m.
Athens was co-champs of the Cloverwood Conference and come into their Level 2 matchup with Hurley with a 9-1 record. The Bluejays average almost 40 points a game and they had over 300 yards rushing in their 34-10 Level 1 win over Regis led by Daltan Lavicka's 137 yards and 2 tds. Hurley (9-1) had over 440 yards rushing in their Level 1 win over Spring Valley led by Mark Saari's 231 yards and 3 tds.

DIVISION 7
Greenwood/Granton at Pepin/Alma - Friday, 7 p.m. at Alma - Live on 92.7 FM WPKG
Greenwood/Granton (7-3) will have their hands full at Alman on Friday night with the 10-0 Pepin/Alma Eagles. Pepin/Alma scores nearly 42 points per game and they had over 235 yards rushing in the 45-0 Level 1 win over Florence. Greenwood/Granton meanwhile had over 275 yards rushing in their win over Clear Lake in Level 1 led by Delten Schmitz with 162 yds on 29 carries. Clear Lake was 2nd to Pepin/Alma in the Lakeland-South Conference.

Owen-Withee at Glenwood City - Friday, 7 p.m.
In one of the better games in Level 2 on Friday night, Owen-Withee (9-1) will go up against defending Div. 7 champion Glenwood City (9-1). Both teams feature the running game as Glenwood City has over 50 touchdowns on the ground while Owen-Withee has over 45. Glenwood City finished second to Mondovi in the Dunn-St.Croix Conference. Owen-Withee, co-champs of the Cloverwood, beat Wausau Newman 28-16 in Level 1 and they rushed for over 360 yards led by Bryce Niemi with 168 yds and 2 tds.

Loyal at New Lisbon - Friday, 7 p.m.
The Loyal Greyhounds average almost 30 points a game and have scored almost 40 touchdowns on the ground this season. In their Level 1 win over Hillsboro, Loyal ran for over 290 yards led by Ryley Fischer with 99 yards. Cullen Pedersen of New Lisbon went for more than 2000 combined yards passing and rushing during the regular season with 29 touchdowns accounted for.
