Monday, October 7th, 2013 -- 1:08 PM

University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire captured the 2013 WIAC Women's Golf Championship after three days of competition at Lake Arrowhead Golf Course.

With the first-place finish, the Blugolds earned an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Championship that will be conducted May 13-16, 2014, in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.

The Blugolds held a six-stroke advantage over defending champion UW-Stout entering the final round and finished three strokes better than the Blue Devils on the final 18 holes to post a nine-shot victory.

UW-Eau Claire won its ninth WIAC championship in program history and fourth in the last five seasons with 999 strokes. UW-Stout had 1008 strokes, while UW-Whitewater placed third with 1043, UW-Oshkosh fourth with 1058, UW-Stevens Point fifth with 1086, UW-River Falls sixth with 1088 and UW-Platteville seventh with 1089.
