Madison Wins Northwoods League Title

The Madison Mallards beat the Duluth Huskies on Friday night to claim their second Northwoods League championship and first since 2004.The Mallards went 41-29 in the regular season and earned a spot in the post season behind a first place finish in the South Division in the first half. The Mallards came into both of their postseason series as underdogs, but they managed to overcome the odds for their second league title.
After winning in three games against Lakeshore, the Mallards swept the Huskies for the title.
Joe McCarthy was named the Summer Collegiate World Series MVP after his monster series. In addition to going 5/6 with four runs, four RBI, and one home run on Friday, McCarthy went 2/4 with two RBI and a run scored in game one.
