Greenwood Baseball wins D4 State Semi-Final

The Greenwood Indians advance to the State High School Division 4 Championship with an 11-1 five inning semi-final win over Wausaukee on Wednesday morning.

The Indians scored 8 runs in the top of the second inning. The scoring started with Alex Volovsek?s two RBI single to centerfield, followed by two run scoring walks issued by Wausaukee starting pitcher Beau DeLeat. The scoring continued after the Wausaukee pitching change with a Tyler Johnson RBI single and then a 3 RBI triple by Booker Bredlau.

The Indians bats continued to pound in the top of the 3rd with an RBI single by Westin Wuethrich and a RBI ground out by Kody Learman.

Wausaukee got in the board with a run in the bottom of the 3rd off relief pitcher James Hlavek.

In the 5th for Greenwood, Volovsek lead off with a double and then scored after a wild pitch and a passed ball.

Starting pitcher Westin Wuethrich gets no decision after pitching 1 inning. James Hlavek gets the win for Greenwood pitching four innings in relief. At the plate, Konner Kitzhaber was 2 for 2 and Volovsek was 3 for 3.

Greenwood will face Lake Country Lutheran for the Division 4 state title. The game is scheduled for Thursday at 9 am. You can hear the game live on 92.7 WPKG.
