Greenwood Heading Back To State!

The Greenwood Indian baseball team is heading back to State after beating Prairie Farm in the Sectional Final on Tuesday 11-3.In the Sectional Semi-Final, Greenwood downed Spring Valley 11-0 in 5 innings behind a strong pitching performance from James Hvlac who allowed only 4 hits and struck out 5. Offensively, Greenwood scored 3 in the first, 2 in the second and then 6 in the third thanks to a 3 RBI double by Kody Learman.
In the Sectional Final, the Indians ace, Wes Wuethrich got the start and allowed just 4 hits while striking out 9 and walking 7, four of those to Prairie Farm's lead off hitter. Offensively it was another big inning, this time a 6-run 2nd that got Greenwood out to a big lead. Booker Bredlau had a big 3 run homer over the left field fence in the 6th.
Greenwood improves to 14-3 on the season and heads back to State where they'll take on Wausaukee who beat Rib Lake 10-0 in 5 innings in the Sectional Final at Tigerton. The State Semi-Final will be next Wednesday morning at 8 am at Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium, in Grand Chute. You can hear it live on 92.7 FM WPKG.
