Neillsville Athletes To Face Great Competition At State

The three Neillsville track & field athletes who are heading to the State Track & Field Meet in LaCrosse will be facing some great competition on Saturday.

In the Division 2 boys shot put event, Matt Grottke qualified for State with a throw of 51-10.00. That puts him about in the middle of the pack. T. J. Watt, a senior from Pewaukee and former Badger J.J. Watt?s younger brother, qualified with a throw of 60-02.00. The Division 2 boys shot put competition will start at 10:30 am Saturday morning.

On the girls side, Wendy Barth qualified in the discus throw in Division 2 with a throw of 115-01 which puts her right in the middle of the field. Jasmine Noel, a junior from Sturgeon Bay is the top qualifier with a throw of 136-09. The girls discus throw in Division 2 will begin at 9:30 am Saturday morning
Senior, Caitlynne Naughton will be competing in the girls pole vault in Division 2 and she qualified with her personal best and school record vault of 9-06.00. Bonnie Draxler of Wrightstown qualified with a vault of 13-00.00. The second best qualifier is Mikayla Laue of Richland Center with a vault of 10-09.00. The Division 2 girls pole vault competition will begin at 10:30 am Saturday morning.
