UW-Stevens Point And Whitewater Receive NCAA Bids

University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and UW-Whitewater have received bids into the 2013 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship and will compete in a six-team, double-elimination regional hosted by UW-Whitewater this Wednesday thru Saturday.The Pointers (35-9) received an automatic bid into the 56-team field by winning the WIAC tournament title. UW-Stevens Point is making the 14th NCAA appearance in program history and eighth in the last nine seasons. The Pointers will open regional competition against Benedictine University (Ill.) (32-10) at 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
The Warhawks (34-7) earned one of 18 available at-large bids into the event. UW-Whitewater, who claimed the NCAA Division III championship in 2005, is making its sixth consecutive NCAA showing - and 16th overall. The Warhawks will face Case Western Reserve University (Ohio) (27-12) in their opening contest at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
University of St. Thomas (Minn.) (33-5) and College of St. Scholastica (Minn.) (27-9) will also compete in the Whitewater Regional.
