Whitewater Wins Baseball Crown

University of Wisconsin-Whitewater secured the WIAC baseball championship following league games played on Wednesday.

UW-Stevens Point dropped the second game of doubleheader against UW-Oshkosh at University Field in Stevens Point, Wis., by a 12-7 margin to lock up the title for the Warhawks. UW-Whitewater currently owns a 19-2 record and has two conference games remaining, which would make its lowest possible winning percentage .826. UW-Stevens Point sits in second place with a 13-5 mark and has six remaining games on its schedule, but would have a .792 winning percentage if victorious in all six contests.

The league crown for the Warhawks is the 14th in program history and fourth in the last six seasons. UW-Whitewater also earned the top seed for the WIAC championship will host the competition May 11-12. The winner of the four-team event will receive the conference?s automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Championship.
