Boylan Will Not Return As Bucks Coach

Wednesday, May 1st, 2013 -- 1:15 PM

The Milwaukee Bucks announced on Wednesday that Jim Boylan will not return as their head coach.

General manager John Hammond said he that it was in the best interest of the team to seek a new coach. He added that a search for a new coach would begin "immediately."

An ESPN source said that Houston Rockets assistant Kelvin Sampson, who is already a candidate for the Charlotte Bobcats' opening, will be among the candidates considered to replace Boylan.

Boylan took over as interim coach in January after Scott Skiles was fired and went 22-28 for the rest of the season. Milwaukee was swept in the first round of the playoffs by the Miami Heat. Although Milwaukee won its first two games under Boylan and eight of his first 11, the Bucks fell apart at the end of the season. They lost 12 of their last 16 games to finish with a losing record for a third straight season.
