UW Eau Claire Clinches #1 Seed

UW-Eau Claire captured its second straight WIAC softball title with a pair of victories over UW-Oshkosh at YP.com Park on Tuesday.The Blugolds won the first game 6-2 to earn at least a share of the championship and claimed the title outright with a 6-4 triumph in the second game. The conference crown is the ninth in program history.
UW-Eau Claire also earned the top seed for the WIAC championship and will host the six-team event that is scheduled to be held this Friday - Sunday. UW-Whitewater is the second seed, while UW-La Crosse is the fifth seed. The other three seeds will be determined following the doubleheader between UW-Oshkosh and UW-Stevens Point today.
The winner of the six-team tournament receives the conference?s automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Championship.
