Neillsville Booster Club Girl's Basketball Tournament Held

The Neillsville Booster Club held their annual Girl's Youth Basketball Tournament on Sunday. 23 teams in 5th thru 8th grade from around Central Wisconsin competed.

Marshfield took first in the 5th grade division with Osseo-Fairchild taking second. The Neillsville Red Team finished third edging Colby 13-10 in the deciding game. The team coached by Al Shoengarth and Tim Voigt includes: Alli Shoengarth, Riley Voigt, Callie Schmidt, Taylan Shoengarth, Olivia Friemoth, Abbi Averill, Bianca Fisher, Kayla Oldham, Kaitlin Thoma, Montana Opelt, Parker Millard, Kaia Mosied and Ellie Mosied. The Neillsville White team lost in the consolation championship to Marshfield Columbus. Members of that team coached by Missy Stockheimer and Taylor Gleisner include: Bella Opelt, Corrin Naughton, Terran Stockheimer, Emily Hanson, Arianna Rochester, Jaden Barth, Emma Moseley, Courtney Oldham and Kylie Boyer.

In the 6th grade division, the champion was the Eau Claire Eagles, with Osseo-Fairchild taking second. Neillsville finished 5th. They were coached by Jamie Kuhn and Dave McDonald and include: Kelley Barth, Maggie McDonald, Bailey Schumacher, Katie Kunze, Sam Cappadora, Sami Kuhn, Vanessa Zickert, Maddie Chadwick, Kayla Brody and Mady Kopreck.

In the 7th grade bracket, the Marfield Tigers took home the gold medals defeating Prentice. Neillsville placed 5th, beating Greenwood 32-21 in the playoff round. Duane King, Scott Krultz and Jeff Hanson were the coaches and team members included: Gabby Tomlin, Kaelyn Krultz, Jenna Byrne, Emily Voigt, Morgan Bethea, Mikayla Knuth, Erin Voigt, Alicia Zickert, Olivia Hanson, Grace King, Charity Hribar, and Lauren Mesar.

The Neillsville Warriors took first in the 8th grade division with an unbeated record. Members of the gold medal squad coached by Jenna Ehlen included: Krista Krultz, Mallory Zickert, Morgan Hauge, Kayla Lis, Mindy Schoengarth, Michelle Kyle, Ashlee Diestler, Corrtney Schmidt, Jocelyn Thur and Lexi Opelt.

37 games were contested throughout the day and the Booster Club would like to thank the many volunteers who helped officiate, scorekeep, take tickets or work the concession stand. All proceeds to help support youth sports at Neillsville Schools.
